It’s 6 am and the sun has just begun to warm up the city of Madras. Our Paati is already up and about in the kitchen, preparing for the day ahead. She pours generous heapfuls of coffee powder into her brass coffee filter, presses the powder tight, and adds boiling water gently over it. Soon, fresh decoction goes drip-drip in the filter and the aroma of coffee wafts through our home. 

Paati’s filter was a much-beloved fixture of her kitchen, one that served up delicious coffee for generations of family and friends. It was an institution in itself. We hope that this vintage-style brass filter finds pride of place in your kitchen, as it did in ours.
